Dazu enorme Energie und ein klarer Verstand: All diese Eigenschaften prägen das Spiel von Alina Ibragimova, die in Russland geboren ist und seit ihrer frühen Kindheit in London lebt. International tritt sie als Solistin mit den bedeutenden Orchestern auf, zuletzt verstärkt in der Doppelfunktion als Solistin und Ensembleleiterin. Ihre Einspielungen von Schostakowitschs Violinkonzerten mit dem State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia unter Vladimir Jurowski und Mendelssohns Geigenkonzerten mit dem Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment und Vladimir Jurowski erhielten und erhalten eine große Aufmerksamkeit.

In gleichem Maße ist Alina Ibragimova aber auch als Kammermusikerin präsent. So hat sie im Duo mit Cédric Tiberghien sämtliche Violinsonaten von Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Szymanowski, Ravel und Mozart aufgenommen, daneben als Solistin, ebenfalls mit geradezu enzyklopädischem Eifer, die Solowerke von Bach und Telemann. Und wer noch nicht wusste, dass Paganinis Capricen weit mehr sind als nur virtuoses Blendwerk, wird das bei ihrer Einspielung der 24 Werke staunend feststellen. 

Je nach Epoche wechselt Alina Ibragimova zwischen einer modernen und einer historischen Geige. Mit Letzterer tritt sie auch als Primaria des 2005 in London gegründeten Chiaroscuro Quartet auf, das zurzeit in einer hochgelobten Gesamtaufnahme von Haydns Streichquartetten historisch informierte Klanglichkeit und Stilistik mit Lebendigkeit und individueller Freiheit zusammenbringt.

Her playing is natural, curious and direct. Born in Russia and living in London since early childhood, violinist Alina Ibragimova approaches music with both immense energy and sharp intellect. Rarely does the balance between humility towards a work and individuality of its performance succeed in such a fascinating way as with this musician, who plays without a safety net and entirely open to risk. «The immediacy and honesty of Ibragimova’s playing has the curious ability to collapse any sense of distance between performer and listener.», writes The Guardian to the point.

As a soloist, she performs internationally with all the greatest orchestras, increasingly in the double role of soloist and ensemble leader. Her recordings of Shostakovich’s violin concertos with the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia under Vladimir Jurowski, and Mendelssohn’s violin concertos with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, also with Vladimir Jurowski, continue to receive considerable attention.

Alina Ibragimova enjoys equal prominence as a chamber musician. In a duo partnership with Cédric Tiberghien, for example, she has recorded all the violin sonatas of Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Szymanowski, Ravel and Mozart, as well as the solo works of Bach and Telemann, with almost encyclopaedic zeal. And anyone who didn’t know that Paganini’s caprices are far more than just virtuosic showpieces will be amazed to discover her recording of these 24 works.

Depending on the music she plays, Alina Ibragimova alternates between modern and historical instruments. On the latter she performs as leader of the Chiaroscuro Quartet, founded in London in 2005. In their highly acclaimed current recording of Haydn’s complete string quartets, the ensemble combines the sound and stylistic ideals of period performance practice with their own brand of liveliness and individual freedom.
